I'm Joining the Avengers! :D

The Pirate event was the LAST Family Guy event I designed and vectored. I switched projects to work on TinyCo's Marvel Avengers Academy Game. I had SO MUCH fun working on Family Guy with a great team of talented artists and animators. I feel like the greatest thing I learned on this team was to always try your darndest to insert a sense of fun into every asset. If you are laughing while working, chances are a player will be laughing while playing! At least, that is what I always hope for.

I'm beyond thrilled to be working on Marvel as a concept artist and can't wait to get some concepts up sometime soon! In the meantime, check out the game!

Family Guy: Mighty Morphin Griffin Rangers

The most fun part of this event was having an excuse to research the totally crazy kaiju in Power Rangers!
Like...this psychotic pastry chef...

...or
this giant chicken with shears...
Trust me, its worth an online search if you feel like a giggle.
The most challenging part of building this event for me was that the kaiju would need to be animated rising up and then hiding behind their elemental surroundings.
This took a little tweaking because our animations are always an overlay on top of the exported art.
The problem was solved by including a piece of foreground exported along with the animation file, This also enabled me to enlarge the kaiju since only their upper torso need to be made.

Family Guy: Quahog Heat 80s Event

This was a really fun, colorful event to work on. This event was a collaboration with Samantha Jo of TinyCo. I am showing only the designs I was responsible for, but the event in its entirety turned out really cool! Congrats, Samantha!  The 80s 'Miami Vice' inspired colors and retro look were highlighted when we decided to give the event night-time lighting.

Family Guy: Kung Pow Quahog Event

Ever since playing Mortal Kombat II on my sega back in the 90s I have been a big fan of fighting games. If only we could have included fatalities in our Family Guy fighter! Or a bad techno song...

I was training Samantha Jo of TinyCo how to make an event district and it turned into a great collaborative project that she deserves a LOT of credit for.
This event is one of my favorites to look at. I really loved that we were able to have so much animated water and swirling mist to add atmosphere. Even the cherry tree had little blossoms fluttering down as the panda bears were animated munching on bamboo. So much of what makes an event fun to play is due to the animation team's hard work!
